The Rocketeer screenprint. This was my first of three pieces in the Gallery1988 show "30 Years Later." I remember well watching this movie as a boy and not only being amazed by the idea of flying around in a rocket pack, but also being in awe of his iconic helmet. Another thing that stuck with me was the Art Deco stylings throughout the movie. Being a fan of minimalism and iconography, I knew I'd focus on the headpiece, but I also wanted to incorporate the rocket pack through a repeating art deco-inspired pattern. Of course, I had to utilize gold metallic ink for the helmet.
